Naps, Food, and Friends *Part I*
Jambo Jambo Jambo!
We would like to apologize for the lack of blog posts in the past couple of days, as we've been away on a much needed break! We went to Peponi Beach from Saturday to Sunday afternoon, and it was pretty much the best $35 I've ever spent in my entire life.
Located on Pangani, Peponi beach resort is not your typical beach resort as our rooms were actually private huts on the beach! Each room had an exotic ambiance with deluxe beds, warm water (Thank God), and personal hammocks and futons for us to sleep on outside.
The beach itself was majestic, with brilliantly white sand and plenty of interesting sea shells! The resort also had its own pool bar and hammocks everywhere.
You may notice that I've mentioned hammocks a lot, and that's because we used them constantly. There is no comparable feeling on this earth to sun drying in a hammock by the beach. It was much needed rest and relaxation for the entire team after 10 days straight of exhausting work.
The resort had some fantastic food as well, including American food like burgers and pizza! While the food in Tanzania has been on point, it was nice to get something close to home. To be fair, though, even the burgers taste differently over here. It was quite the experience.
At night, Cheralyn ordered a seafood platter for two while the entire team and Mary Lou bonded over a nice sitdown dinner at the resorts dining area. Cheralyn couldn't finish her seafood platter because she's not about that life, so George took it upon himself to finish his plate, hers, and pretty much everyone else's.
The team ended the night in a brilliant fashion, as we went back to the beach to look at the stars at night. You could almost see the entire universe due to the lack of light pollution. It was an unforgettable experience, and one of the most beautiful sights we've ever seen.
Part II coming up!
